Here are the countries I’ve been to (in alphabetical order), with approx. dates and notes on most of them. I love talking about travel, so feel free to get in touch if you’re thinking of going to any of these places.

  1. Australia – briefly in 1995
  2. Belgium – to visit a friend I met travelling in Egypt
  3. Belize – highly recommend the tiny paradise island of Caye Caulker (December 2012)
  4. Botswana – one of my favourite countries that I will happily go back to (1997 & 2022)
  5. Bulgaria – a short holiday with a friend to round off our gap years before heading to university
  6. Cambodia – part of an organised group overland trip
  7. Canada – Montreal, 2001 – for a family wedding
  8. Colombia – Medellin, December 2017, for a month
  9. Costa Rica – part of an organised group overland trip; very green but colder than I’d expected (Dec 2012/Jan 2013)
  10. Croatia – a city break with my boyfriend at the time – July 2016
  11. Cyprus – family holiday many years ago
  12. Czech Republic – weekend city break in Prague August 2009
  13. Denmark
  14. Egypt – one of my first organised group overland trips; felucca trip was a highlight
  15. England – lived here for a lot of my life!
  16. Estonia – with a group of friends to run a half marathon; very fun trip – September 2017
  17. Finland – a quick dash x 2 – once by ferry from Tallin, and once overland from Norway in search of the Northern Lights
  18. France – family holidays and a couple of Parisian city breaks, most recently to race a dragon boat on the Seine (September 2023)
  19. Germany – by accident; trying to get back to London from Bangkok one snowy winter we got stranded in Frankfurt for a few days

  21. Guatemala – part of two organised group overland trips; another favourite country (2007 and Dec 2012/Jan 2013)
  22. Honduras – part of an organised group overland trip (Dec 2012/Jan 2013)
  23. Hungary – city break to Budapest with a friend – August 2018
  24. Indonesia – 1 month in Bali with Unsettled – October 2017
  25. Ireland (Republic of) – Dublin, 3 times (2 hen dos and a weekend city break with my OH at the time)
  26. Israel – Kibbutz Kissufim, 1995, 2 months
  27. Italy – Rome (March 2010), Milan, Venice (2003, 2009 and 2017), Sorrento (Oct 2012)
  28. Jordan – one month volunteering in Amman, December 2021
  29. Laos – part of an organised group overland trip
  30. Lesotho – March 2017
  31. Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur 1995 and various places on a group tour, December 2008
  32. Malta – lived in St Andrews and went to St Dorothy’s Convent School in Mdina 1990; visited for a fabulous wedding in an amazing quarry location in May 2011
  33. Mexico – part of an organised group overland trip over Christmas
  34. Morocco – holiday in Agadir, around 2004; 3 weeks at Sundesk co-living in December 2019

  36. Namibia – group overland tour, December 2015. I looooooved Namibia!
  37. Netherlands – city break in Amsterdam twice (August 2010 and May 2015); multiple longer stays in Maasdijk (Hook of Holland) in 2024
  38. New Zealand – Auckland, 1995
  39. Nicaragua – part of an organised group overland trip (Dec 2012/Jan 2013)
  40. Norway – 2005 for a wedding; May 2014 for a friend’s surprise 40th birthday; November 2019 chasing the Northern Lights and dogsledding with friends
  41. Philippines – Ternate, Cavite, staying with a local family, 1995
  42. Poland – city break in Krakow in September 2013 and Rzeszów for a wedding in July 2012
  43. Portugal – holiday in Maderia around 2013; week in Lisbon in May 2023
  44. Scotland – visiting a friend at university in Dundee approx 1998; Edinburgh Tattoo 2019
  45. Serbia – 3 weeks at Mokrin House coliving in 2018
  46. Singapore – 5 days over New Year 2022/23
  47. Slovenia – awesome activity weekend trip with Much Better Adventures in 2019
  48. South Africa – Johannesburg to visit my sister, July 2012; multiple visits to Cape Town in each year from 2013 to 2024 except 2021
  49. South Korea – 2 visits (2007 and 2008) to stay with my sister, who lived in Seoul for 3 years
  50. Spain – multiple visits to places including Benicassim, Calpe, Javea, Malaga, Valencia and San Sebastian
  51. Sri Lanka – organised group tour around the country, Nov/Dec 2023
  52. St Kitts (& Nevis) – visiting a friend, June 2010
  53. Sudan – lived and taught English in Khartoum for one year, July 1998 – July 1999
  54. Sweden – visiting a friend in 1995
  55. Switzerland – travelling with my sister in 2009 and then visiting her living there March 2010
  56. Taiwan – 4 weeks in Taipei with a weekend in Hualien, October 2023

  58. Thailand – 2 organised group tours in Nov 2009 and Dec 2010; 3 x a week in Bangkok for a conference followed by a month in Chiang Mai (2019, 2022, 2023)
